Pants!

I love the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. No, I am not 12, I’m 25, but no matter. If it helps, I began reading the series at like, uhh, 19 or so, so it’s not that bad. The books were fantastic. I could see myself in the characters, fantasizing myself in the far off places they went to, imagining my friends were their friends, etc, etc. The first movie was great, just like the first book. I watch it again and again when it is on TV. If you didn’t like the second movie, let me tell you, it was a compilation of the 3 subsequent books, and not a good one at that. Knowing that they couldn’t have made all 4 movies (the actresses would have been 30 by then) they but 3 books in to 1 movie, taking the “big screen” parts from each girl’s story, making it patchy and missing the heart that the first movie had. There are part of the book that let you see the hearts of each girl that were left our for the movie. So, I say again, the books were fantastic. If you liked the first movie, then take to the books, and disregard the second movie, as it does not do the books justice. it will be a long time before I find another series that I can relate to so well, that tells the lives of girls and friendship in such a heartful and true way.

With nearly 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s Disease, we all know someone who has been affected by it. Alzheimer’s is a disease that can affect the lives of not only the person with the disease, but the families who care for them as well. A form of dementia, Alzheimer’s is fatal. I saw ‘Sex and the City’ in the theatres this weekend. I went with my sisters, which was great fun. The movie was great. Exactly what you’d expect from SATC. Each character is on a different path, one with a boyfriend, one getting married, one expecting a baby, and the other in the trenches of married life, with kid, husband, and job wearing her down. There’s something in it for everyone. I literally, laughed, cried and cheered my way through the movie and left feeling satisfied that my friends; Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha, were right where they should be.

Patrick Dempsy – McDreamy or McNerdy?

So I just saw Made of Honor (my first trip to a theater is almost a year thank you). The movie was pretty good, and predictable, but then most romantic comedies are. I’m not big on watching Grey’s Anatomy, so I don’t see Patrick Dempsy often, but I had to wonder, what’s all the fuss about. The whole McDreamy thing is a mystery to me, I don’t get it. He’s kind of funny looking really, big crooked nose, droopy face, short. I kept thinking about his dorky movies from the eighties, namely Can’t Buy Me Love (great 80’s flick if you haven’t seen it) where he plays a dorky kids who pays for a popular girl to date him. He played dorky so well, then he stopped acting for 20 years and now is Dreamy? I just don’t see it. Props to him for turning the image around. That kid from 16 Candles will never be anything but dorky.
