Just for this morning, I will let you sleep in an extra 5 minutes and wake you up with a kiss instead of poking and yelling that you’re late.

Just for this morning, I’ll let you take a long shower without complaining that you are using up all the hot water.

Just for this morning, I won’t criticize how you diapered, clothed, or bathed the kids, and just be thankful that you did it.

Just for this morning, I’ll give you a real kiss as you leave for work and tell you that you look great.

Just for this afternoon, I’ll write a love note on a napkin and pack it in your lunch because I know it makes you smile.

Just for this afternoon, I’ll try to understand that I am used to tantrums, crying, and messy diapers, and sometimes it’s a little more difficult for you.

Just for this evening, I won’t complain that you can home late from work again, because I know that you can’t help it sometimes.

Just for this evening, I’ll ask you how your day was and actually listen to the details.

Just for this evening, I’ll notice that you took out the trash and say thank you without pointing out the chores you didn’t get to yet.

Just for this evening, I’ll tell you that you’re a great dad and say nice things to you in front of the kids.

Just for tonight, I’ll sit with you on the couch while we watch what you want to watch.

Just for tonight, I won’t pull away when you want to snuggle in bed.

Just for tonight, I’ll thank God that I have you.  I’ll remember why it is that I loved you to begin with, and forget all the little things that drive me crazy.  I will remember that I chose you to be my husband, partner, and father of my children.  I will remember that you do your best every day to make me happy, to provide for us, and to be a good man.  I will remember that you are kind and faithful, and I will try to be the same.  I will think about all the wives who have lost their husbands to war, illness, or accident and be thankful that I have you for one more day.
